Dentistry is about more than just clean teeth. I have been fortunate to have mentors who have been fixtures in their community in addition to caring for their patients. These dentists were always people who could be depended on to help others both in and outside of their practices. The ability to help people in need is what first interested me in dentistry and this is the standard that I hold myself to.
I graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's in Science Education and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. While in dental school being part of that community meant working with faculty members on research projects. This lead to a position on the board of the National Student Research Group and a fellowship through the American Dental Education Association. I continue to stay engaged with the teaching and the college of dentistry by serving as an Adjunct Professor in the college's restorative clinic. Every year I spend over a hundred hours of continuing education. Through relationships with other educators and local dentists I have been able to help local study clubs bring national thought leaders to not only help our practice but others in our community.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time playing board games and pickleball with my wife Katy. I regularly have about three different books going at a time, often one on history, another on health, and some fiction for fun (I have a particular soft spot the Harry Potter series). We have been blessed by our son Carter and three yellow labs that keep us on the move. When we do find free time we support the various groups we belong to by volunteering with our church and various health care initiatives.

As the daughter of two medical professionals I always knew I would end up in healthcare. From the time I was little I loved all things science and math. As a frequent flyer to the dentist and orthodontist growing up, I always had great experiences in the dental setting. It was in high school that I realized being a dentist would give me the opportunity to be a part of the healthcare community while still having a great work life balance. I attended the University of Northern Iowa for my undergrad education. I majored in Biology and Chemistry and loved every moment of my experience. UNI will always have a special place in my heart as it is there, I met my husband, Alex. Through a special program available to Iowa natives I was accepted to dental school early - as a junior. I continued on to graduate at the top of my class with Summa Cum Laude honors.
In 2009, I began my education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. After graduation, I began working in private practice in Urbandale and filled in at Ankeny Dental Professionals. During that time, I realized that Ankeny Dental Professionals was something special. The staff and patients felt like family and I knew it was a perfect fit for me. In 2016, I started working full-time at Ankeny Dental Professionals.
When I'm not with my dental family you can find me at home with my husband, my daughter and son, and my Golden Retriever. We love spending time with our family and friends. We love to travel, spend time outdoors, going to shows and golfing. We are active in our church and in the community. It is my privilege to attend to your oral health. Thank you for trusting me to care for you!

For me, dentistry has always been a patient-focused process. I want to help identify problems you may have and address outcomes you want to achieve. As clinicians, we have many tools at our disposal, and I want to find the right plan that meets your needs. As a person, there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing someone else smile, and I want to help make your smile everything you want it to be.
I grew up in Davenport, Iowa, the oldest of four children. After high school (Davenport Assumption '03), I went to the University of Iowa where I studied political science (B.A. '09) with minors in chemistry and biology. I continued my education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry (DDS '13), learning lifelong lessons and making lifelong friends along the way.
My wife Jessica is the bedrock of my life, and we're enjoying the journey of raising three kids and have lived in Ankeny since 2014. Before joining Ankeny Dental Professionals, I worked actively in public health at Dental Connections and collaborated with Des Moines Public Schools to help provide children with oral healthcare. I am also proud to be serving as a Major with the Iowa Army National Guard since 2018.
Outside of work, I very much enjoy spending time with family, reading, and being outdoors. Fishing and skiing are two particular hobbies of mine. I almost always have a book handy and am forever looking for recommendations. Thankfully my boys enjoy books too, and we spend time every night with several stories. I can't wait until they're able to be the ones reading to us! I look forward to meeting you and appreciate your trust in us to care for your dental needs!

From when I was a child, I have been immersed in dentistry. My father was a dentist, my mother was a hygienist, and my siblings and I were trained as assistants in our early teens. Becoming comfortable with dentistry and patient care at a young age, I recognized early on the opportunities the dental field could offer me, as well as the opportunities I would have to make a difference in the lives of patients. After earning my Bachelor of Arts in Music at Iowa State University, I continued to dental school at the University of Iowa, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2010.
After dental school, I worked briefly in my hometown of Leon before moving to Manson in northwest Iowa in 2012. After practicing on my own for 9 years, I knew that I wanted the security of working within a group and we wanted to live closer to family. When given the opportunity to team up with the talented doctors and staff at Ankeny Dental Professionals, I jumped at the chance. Having colleagues to collaborate with each day is a blessing, and the level of care offered here is second to none.
When I’m not fixing teeth, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and I have a busy and wonderful “his, mine and ours” blended family with 6 children between us, as well as our gentle giant Newfoundland. We enjoy swimming, biking, golfing, playing cards and games, spending time at Lake Cornelia with the aunts, uncles, and cousins, or visiting the farm with Grandma and Grandpa. I can’t wait to meet you, and I look forward to taking care of you and your family with the same care and attention that I give my own.
